May 2003
Jordan and Peter are in Marshall High School's production of Side Show. He is one of the leads, a senior, and hosts the cast party at his house. She is one of the dancers, a songbird, and a shy sophomore. They don't really speak to each other.
Summer 2009
Living at home after graduating college, Jordan sees Peter's bright red Alfa winding through the streets of Vienna, VA. She texts him, they meet up for coffee.
Fall 2009
They both work at 1st Stage, the theater Peter helped found with Mark Krikstan, David Winkler, and Lucas Beck. Peter focuses on sound, Jordan works backstage and in choreography.
Their friendship grows.
Christmas 2009
The romance sparks fly.
March 2010
Jordan gets a contract for Carnival Cruise Lines. She will be gone for 7 months, but they are determined to make the relationship work. At least they can look up at the same sky.
August 2011
Jordan and Peter move together to New York City. He starts Law School at NYU, she delves into her dance career. They become co-parents to the crazy and wonderful cat, Ficus.
August 2013
On the annual Abernathy family vacation to Topsail Island, NC, the couple explore a remote area of the island, and Peter gets down on one knee.

Weddings are about more than just two people coming together, they are about sharing love with family and friends. It takes a lot of people to make a wedding, and we are so appreciative of everyone involved. Here is a who's who of those special people:
PARENTS OF THE BRIDE
Lane Abernathy & Doug Gehley
PARENTS OF THE GROOM
Dirk & Paula Van Valkenburgh
OFFICIANT
Mark Krikstan
BRIDE'S ATTENDANTS
GROOM'S ATTENDANTS
Eliot Gehley
(Man of Honor)
Her Not-So-Little Brother. Earnest, understanding, and supremely talented don't even begin to describe the dude she looks up to (in more ways than one).
Adam Gurri
(Best Man)
The orchestra dork carpool, joint and sole members of a high school nihilism kabal, arch blogging frenemies, unfounded trust in Peter's wedding speech decorum, and much more.
Kaitlin Gonzales
From Freshman Hall through graduation, they lived and breathed W&M, Disney Princesses, Tri Tau, JAKE, ugly sweater parties, midnight dance-a-thons, and fabulous fashion. They still do all of these.
David Winkler
The Amadeus to his Amadeus, the Johnnypateenmike to his Cripple, victim of unprovoked capsizing and near drowning, and an unfortunate mutual descent into the legal profession.
Tiffany Ng
The NYC coworkers quickly bonded over their love of HBO, ice cream, and Southern BBQ. Her designer skills are impeccable (she designed the invitations!).
Marc Lico
Stalwart of the Academy, brief co-conspirator, brief co-songwriter (really sorry Lennon), wordsmith extraordinaire: from golf-ball-head, to ahsscream, to jewel putting it on me.
Stephanie Penn
Jordan's first and longest friend, the Ashley to her Mary-Kate, they grew up on church, Barbies, and the best dress-up parties a girl could ask for.
Kelly Williams
Witness and confidant to much silliness, keeper of the embarrassing photos and countless memories back all the way to that genesis of awkwardness, middle school.
Alex Tremont
Born 6 days apart, these "twin" cousins have grown up sharing important moments. From first tricycles to graduations, they've celebrated everything together.
Alex Withrow
Because wedding night coding is a service anyone would offer. He and Marley are the best people; their wedding, happiness, home, and beer inspire.
with Lucas Beck as Lucas Beck
Orchestrally scored conversations in convertibles, demolishing an absurdly well-built interior structure with axes, Jameson in the light booth, and such incredible talent.

ATTIRE
Dressy but comfortable; look nice, have some fun with it!
Weather permitting, the ceremony will take place outside. Therefore, plan ahead and bring a sweater, jacket, or wrap to layer. Both the lawn and the barn floor are not friendly to stilettos and skinny heels, so plan your footwear accordingly (the bride will be wearing flats!).
A GUIDE TO THE AREA
Virginia in autumn is gorgeous. We timed the wedding to be at the peak turning season for the leaves, so it is bound to be a beautiful time to explore the area. More into city life? Washington, DC is only a drive or metro ride away. Explore all the capitol has to offer, from free museums and historic monuments to quirky vintage shops and tasty restaurants.
